About Blanton’s Silver Edition Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Albert Blanton started working at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (now known as Buffalo Trace) at the age of 16, reportedly working in every department at the distillery in the following years. By the age of 20, he was appointed the superintendent of O.F.C, and worked there until his retirement in 1952. He identified a certain section of Warehouse H at his distillery, which he believed was the best for aging bourbon, and would personally select individual barrels from the section to bottle for his own private reserve. Today, Blanton’s is a beloved brand where single casks are still picked from warehouse H. Blanton’s Silver Edition is a single-barrel Kentucky straight bourbon that was originally available in duty-free shops, but has since been discontinued. It was crafted with Buffalo Trace’s high-rye mash bill #2 and matured between 6 and 8 years before being bottled at 98 proof.

About Blanton’s
In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blanton was born on a farm situated just outside of Frankfort, Kentucky. At the age of 16, Blanton began working at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (often abbreviated O.F.C. Distillery) as an office boy. Over the next few years, Blanton reportedly worked in every department at the distillery. By the age of 20, he was appointed the superintendent of O.F.C, and worked there until his retirement in 1952.
Much like his mentor, E.H. Taylor, Blanton was a traditional bourbon aristocrat, wedded to the production of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Blanton identified a certain section of Warehouse H at his distillery, which he believed was the best for aging bourbon, and would personally select individual barrels from the section to bottle for his own private reserve.
It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
TASTING NOTES: Caramel, vanilla, spice, and a touch of dried fruit lead the charge on the nose. The palate is gently sweet with baking spices, orchard fruit, and tropical notes. The finish is long and smooth with a balance of sweetness and spice.
